Large Stonemasonry public art project
Client: Liverpool Metroploltan Cathedral

WM Taylor Masons were brought in to work with the renowned commercial artist Susanna Heron, and London based Architects Hogben & Hale we were contracted to construct a large piece of public art within Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Gardens.

Having a diameter of 17.4m Still Point was built on a circular reinforced concrete slab foundation and over 100m3 of concrete.

The black and grey granite was then laid to very fine tolerances.

The appearance of the flat surface is evocative of a pool of water with a sense of varying depths which when wet become highly reflective to mirror images of the cathedral, the sky and trees.

This masonry project was carried out around the cathedrals busy diary of events and functions.
